Navi Mumbai :– In a concerted effort to combat and eliminate rubella and other preventable diseases among children, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s Health Department is set to kick off the third phase of the “Mission Indradhanush” campaign from October 9th to October 14th, 2023. This initiative aligns with the Central Government’s goal of eradicating rubella by December 2023.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, the Health Department of Navi Mumbai has meticulously planned this program. The primary focus of the campaign is on immunization, aimed at reducing child mortality and disease incidence. By providing comprehensive vaccination coverage, the program seeks to protect children from diseases like polio, measles, pneumonia, and more.
The third phase of “Mission Indradhanush 5.0” holds great significance as it targets areas where vaccination rates are currently low or have faced challenges in the past. A task force comprising representatives from the Indian Medical Association, the Indian Association of Pediatrics, and the Integrated Child Development Services has organized the campaign.
The program aims to vaccinate children against various diseases, including BCG, Hepatitis B, OPV, Rotavirus, Pentavalent, IPV, Measles, DPT, and more. By doing so, it strives to ensure that children remain protected from 11 life-threatening diseases.
In addition to benefiting children, the campaign also extends its advantages to pregnant women. Pregnant mothers will receive tetanus vaccinations, ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and child.
One of the significant innovations of this campaign is the introduction of the “U-Vin Portal,” allowing online registration and record-keeping for vaccinations. This portal will enable parents and caregivers to schedule appointments for vaccinations conveniently and receive reminders via SMS.
Furthermore, the campaign involves extensive public awareness campaigns to reach as many children and families as possible. Health workers, alongside Anganwadi and ASHA workers, will visit households to educate and encourage parents to participate in the vaccination drive.
As we look ahead, it is essential to understand that the health of our children is the foundation of their future. Regular immunization is not only a duty but also a privilege that every child deserves. Let’s join hands and ensure that no child is left vulnerable to preventable diseases. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is committed to this cause, and together, we can build a healthier future for our children.
