Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Imposes Ban on Defacing Trees

Navi Mumbai :- Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has taken a decisive step to curb the widespread practice of defacing trees in the region. It has come to light that some businesses have been using tree trunks along roadsides as advertising space, plastering posters and stickers on them. This has not only marred the natural beauty of the city but also led to environmental degradation.

In response to this issue, the municipal corporation has issued a public notice to cease the practice of sticking advertisements on trees and defacing them. This notice is applicable particularly to advertisements along roadsides and commercial areas. Violators will face strict action.

As part of this initiative, posters, stickers, and advertisements must be removed from trees within three days of the notice being issued. The responsibility for enforcing this regulation falls on the Garden Department and the Tree Authority of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

Any violation of this directive after the stipulated time frame will result in legal consequences. According to the Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act of 1995, individuals or businesses caught defacing trees will be liable to face legal action, and complaints should be lodged at the nearest police station.

The municipal corporation urges all residents and businesses to comply with this directive and help in preserving the natural beauty of the city. Defacing trees not only harms the environment but also diminishes the aesthetic appeal of the urban landscape. It is crucial for everyone to play a role in protecting and nurturing the greenery of Navi Mumbai.
