Vasai-Virar :- In celebration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, a National Unity Run was organized on Tuesday, the 31st of October 2023 at the Narveer Chimaji Appa Maidan in Vasai Gaon by the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation. This run, spanning a distance of 3 kilometers, saw active participation from more than 250 enthusiastic runners and citizens.
The event, organized by the Municipal Corporation’s Sports Department, was inaugurated at 7:15 AM with the unfurling of the national flag. The participants began their run with a shared spirit of fitness and unity. The motto for this run was clear: Half an hour of fitness every day, whether it’s running, jogging, or walking.
The winners of the competition in the Men’s category were as follows: Prathamesh Bait secured the first position, followed by Aman Singh in second place, and Sagar Kore in third place. In the Women’s category, Swati Bhalekar claimed the first spot, with Swapnali Naikar in second place and Anjali Tumda securing third place. These winners were honored with certificates and accolades by the Municipal Corporation, along with participation certificates awarded to all those who took part in the run.
The concluding ceremony of the National Unity Run took place at the Narveer Chimaji Appa Memorial at Vasai Fort. Present at the event were the runners, esteemed citizens, municipal officials, and employees, all of whom took an oath of national unity and solidarity.
This run served as a wonderful tribute to the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, promoting unity, fitness, and a sense of collective responsibility among the residents of Vasai-Virar. It was a fitting celebration of the great leader’s birth anniversary, and it brought the community together in a spirit of harmony and wellness.
