Under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program, Mira Bhayandar Municipality has organized the “Active TB Patient Identification Drive” from October 3rd, 2023, to October 13th, 2023. This program is set to reinforce efforts to identify and treat TB patients, with a particular emphasis on individuals who might have gone undiagnosed for an extended period.

The campaign aligns with the Central Government’s vision of achieving a “TB-Free India” by 2025, by actively diagnosing and providing proper treatment to those who need it. As part of this initiative, the municipality has allocated resources to conduct comprehensive screenings and administer necessary medical care to TB patients, ultimately aiming to curb the spread of the disease.

To ensure the success of this endeavor, Mira Bhayandar Municipality has deployed a team of 55 trained healthcare workers who will conduct house-to-house surveys. These diligent workers will cover approximately 11,10,882 residents, conducting screenings and offering medical consultations. Additionally, 11 supervisors will oversee the program, with the goal of identifying suspected TB cases and diagnosing 111 patients during the campaign.

Dr. Balanath Chakor, the City Tuberculosis Officer, and his team have received specialized training to carry out this important mission. Furthermore, the cooperation of the residents is paramount, as they are encouraged to participate in the screenings and assist the healthcare workers in their efforts.

Officials including Mr. Sanjay Shinde, Municipal Commissioner (Health), Dr. Sambhaji Panpatté, Additional Municipal Commissioner, and Mr. Sanjay Katkar, District Collector and Administrator, have actively engaged with the community to raise awareness and promote the campaign’s success.

Mira Bhayandar Municipality’s commitment to addressing TB reflects a broader effort in India to combat this infectious disease and achieve a TB-free nation by 2025. With this campaign, they take a significant step forward in reaching this important goal.
