Mira Bhayandar :- As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission 2023, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation observed its fourth day of the Special Cleanliness Drive on October 19, 2023. This initiative, led by the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Mr. Sanjay Shripatrao Katkar (IAS), witnessed active participation and coordination between two teams.
The first team, under the guidance of Additional Municipal Commissioner Aniket Manorkar, took on the task of cleaning various areas, including Vinay Nagar, Silver Sarita Society, Kashi School, Kashi Market, Saguna Mata Temple, and Ghodbunder Fort. The second team, led by Additional Municipal Commissioner Sambhaji Panpatt, was responsible for cleaning Kanakiya Road, Cinemax Road, Court Road, Tower Road, and Hatkesh Society.
Notably, this cleanliness campaign involved the participation of various officials, engineers, and department employees from different sectors, adding up to around 350 to 400 individuals. Additionally, the Corporation’s 10 teams, comprising sanitation workers and department heads, contributed to the mission across various segments of Ward No. 4.
Activities within this drive included direct cleaning by department heads, removal of stickers, penalties for littering, toilet sanitation, cleaning of memorials and statues, repairing damaged fences and gates, and removing debris and rubbish from roads. Open plots, surroundings, and gardens were also beautified. The entire campaign ran from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and received an enthusiastic response from the citizens.
As part of this campaign, a strict crackdown on littering and illegal dumping of plastic waste in public places has resulted in the collection of 62 kilograms of plastic waste. Those responsible for spreading litter and uncleanliness now face hefty fines, amounting to a total of Rs. 99,000. Since the beginning of the drive, 185 kilograms of plastic waste have been collected, leading to a cumulative fine of Rs. 3,26,000.
This Special Cleanliness Drive is set to continue until October 27, 2023, covering the entire city. The Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Mr. Sanjay Shripatrao Katkar, has urged citizens to actively participate and contribute to the city’s cleanliness. The drive aims to make Mira Bhayandar cleaner, greener, and more appealing for all its residents.
