Mira Bhayandar :- In a remarkable step towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the Mira Bhayandar region, the Municipal Corporation has devised a novel strategy for regular and efficient garbage disposal. The focus of this initiative is to ensure that the city’s waste management system remains pristine, even before the monsoon season.
The call for a more organized approach to waste management came from the citizens of Mira Bhayandar, who expressed concerns about the state of the city’s dumpsters before the onset of the monsoon, leading to the accumulation of not only garbage but also stagnant water. This situation often resulted in the formation of breeding grounds for diseases. To address these issues, Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), the Municipal Commissioner, has introduced a groundbreaking “Garbage Cleanliness Drive.”
The initiative involves systematic and regular cleaning of garbage containers in the city to prevent the accumulation of waste and stagnant water. This initiative marks a significant shift from the previous practice of only cleaning the garbage bins before the monsoon season, as now the cleaning will take place year-round.
To oversee this ambitious project, Mr. Katkar has appointed dedicated sanitation inspectors for each locality within the Mira Bhayandar region. These inspectors are responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of their respective areas and have been given clear directives on when and how to clean the garbage bins. This strategic move is expected to eliminate the issue of overflowing bins during the rainy season, ensuring a more hygienic living environment for the city’s residents.
To enhance accountability and track the progress of this initiative, the Municipal Commissioner has implemented a reporting system. Sanitation inspectors are required to submit daily reports on the status of garbage cleanliness, and these reports are then reviewed by the municipal authorities.
With this innovative approach, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation aims to keep the city clean and hygienic throughout the year, preventing the unsightly and unsanitary conditions that were previously experienced during the monsoon season. By holding officials accountable and adopting a proactive approach to waste management, the city is taking a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier environment for its citizens. This initiative serves as an inspiring example of how a municipal corporation can address community concerns and improve the quality of life for its residents.
