Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation Leads Successful “Cleanliness is Service” Campaign

Mira Bhayandar :- The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, successfully organized a “1-Hour Cleanliness Drive” on October 1st, 2023, as part of the “Cleanliness is Service” campaign. This initiative saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of residents, aiming to make the city cleaner and more vibrant.

The “Cleanliness is Service” program was part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) of the Indian Government from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023. The event took place from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with citizens actively contributing their efforts at 100 locations across the city.

Notable personalities like Geeta Jain, the Member of Legislative Assembly for Mira Bhayandar, actress Priya Marathe, Dipika Singh, and actor Shantanu Moghe, who serve as brand ambassadors for the “Swachh Mira Bhayandar” campaign, also participated in the cleanliness drive. Their presence added to the enthusiasm of the event.

One of the significant aspects of this initiative was identifying areas with high litter accumulation and completely cleaning them. Participants took selfies during their cleaning efforts and uploaded them to the official campaign website (https://swachhtahiseva.com) to receive their e-certificates. Notably, single-use plastic items like bottles, carry bags, glasses, and plates were not used during the campaign.

The campaign also featured a rally of 1021 cyclists from Wockhardt Hospital, and after the rally, approximately 300 cyclists actively participated in the cleanliness drive. The campaign saw active participation from municipal councilors, local representatives, educational institutions, and journalists.

Dheeraj Parab led a cleanliness campaign in Kandivali, adding to the program’s overall success. In total, 14,447 citizens and 31 NGOs participated in the campaign, resulting in the collection of over 20 tons of waste. All the collected waste was later transported by municipal vehicles for proper disposal.

The “1-Hour Cleanliness Drive” emphasized the importance of collective efforts in making the city cleaner and litter-free. Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar expressed his gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions, stating that their efforts had a significant impact on the cleanliness of Mira Bhayandar.
