Mira-Bhayander :- Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, through its Commissioner, Mr. Sanjay Katak and Administrator, Mr. Ravi Pawar, has taken an active part in the environmental youth organization, ‘For Future India’s’ coastal cleanliness campaign. The campaign, which took place on Saturday, October 14, 2023, was aimed at maintaining cleanliness along the coastline of Mira Bhayandar and Mumbai for the past four years. This initiative has now expanded to cover several coastal areas, with a particular focus on Mira Bhayandar’s Utthan and Velankani beaches.

The Commissioner and Administrator of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, along with environmentalist Mr. Harshad Dhage, extended their support to the ‘For Future India’ team and conveyed their best wishes to hundreds of school and college students who participated in this noble cause.

Over 250 volunteers actively contributed to the cleanliness campaign, collecting more than a ton of plastic and other waste from the designated areas. The event saw participation from various institutions, including Go Shunya, Ocean O, schools, and colleges like N.S.S. Atharva College and N.S.S. Ladhidevi College.

In addition to the cleanup efforts, the authorities emphasized the need for proper waste management along the coastal areas, implementing strict regulations and penalties for those found littering. They assured that future cleanliness campaigns would receive full support from the Municipal Corporation and vowed to maintain and manage waste in a responsible manner.

Furthermore, the authorities were introduced to a unique initiative called “Recycle Pote” (Recycle Bags), created from plastic waste collected during the recent global coastal cleanup day organized by ‘For Future India’ and Go Shunya. These innovative Recycle Potes were presented to the Commissioner and Administrator to promote effective recycling and waste management.

Commissioner Sanjay Katak praised this initiative and offered his best wishes for future endeavors aimed at ensuring cleanliness and proper waste management along the coast.
