Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation Hosts “Senior Citizens Program 2023-24” Featuring “Fun Marathon”

Mira Bhayandar :- The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation celebrated the “Senior Citizens Program 2023-24” with a special event known as the “Fun Marathon” from October 4th to October 6th, 2023. The program aimed to honor and engage senior citizens and boost their enthusiasm for daily life.

Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator of Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, inaugurated the “Fun Marathon” by unfurling the event’s flag on October 4th, 2023. Several dignitaries, including Mr. Sambhaji Panpatte, the Additional Municipal Commissioner, and Ms. Kalpita Pimple, Deputy Commissioner, were present at the occasion, along with other municipal officials and employees.

The “Fun Marathon” covered a distance of 3 kilometers, starting from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Maidan and ending at Radhaswami Satsang Road. A total of 60 senior citizens actively participated in the marathon, with Mr. Niranjansarkar securing the first position, followed by Mr. Salik Gupta in second place, and Mr. Ashok Sharma in third place. Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, the Municipal Commissioner, awarded medals to the winners.

Notably, three senior women, Ms. Vima Parwal, Ms. Indu Gosai, and Ms. Alene Disoza, also displayed their enthusiasm by participating in the event. Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar honored them with special recognition for their active involvement.

Before the competition commenced, a medical check-up was conducted for the senior citizens by the Health Department to ensure their well-being. Ambulances and fire brigade vehicles were also stationed at the event as a safety precaution.

Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar, while addressing the participants, emphasized that everyone involved was a winner in their own right, and he expressed gratitude to all for making the “Fun Marathon” a remarkable event.

The “Fun Marathon” brought together senior citizens aged 60 to 75, showcasing their resilience and determination as they completed the 3-kilometer run. It was a testament to the spirit of the elderly, and Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar acknowledged their remarkable contribution to the event.

The “Senior Citizens Program 2023-24” and the “Fun Marathon” served as a platform to celebrate and engage the senior members of the community, promoting active and healthy lifestyles among them.
