Palghar :- Palghar District Council enthusiastically celebrated the birth anniversaries of two of India’s most prominent leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Mr. Sheshrao Bade, the Education Officer (Primary), paid tribute to both leaders by offering floral tributes at their statues.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869 – January 30, 1948) was a key figure in India’s struggle for independence. He was a lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist, and a political and ethical leader. Mahatma Gandhi employed nonviolent resistance against British colonial rule, inspiring a successful movement for India’s freedom. His birthday is celebrated in India as Gandhi Jayanti and is also observed worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.
Gandhi is affectionately referred to as the “Father of the Nation” in India, symbolizing the deep respect and admiration he holds in the hearts of Indians.
Lal Bahadur Shastri served as India’s second Prime Minister. He was elected as Prime Minister on June 9, 1964, following the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Shastri’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by his unique and peaceful leadership style. In 1966, he was posthumously awarded India’s highest civilian honor, the Bharat Ratna, for his exceptional contributions to the nation.
