Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation Successfully Conducts Eco-Friendly Ganesh Visarjan

Over 3,882 Ganesh idols immersed in an eco-friendly manner during Anant Chaturdashi in Vasai-Virar City.

Vasai-Virar :- The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation achieved a significant milestone in conducting a successful and eco-friendly Ganesh Visarjan on Anant Chaturdashi. A total of 3,882 public and household Ganesh idols were immersed in the city, with 1,964 of them being immersed in artificial ponds, thanks to meticulous planning and execution by the municipal authorities.

The immersion process commenced peacefully on Thursday, Anant Chaturdashi, maintaining a serene atmosphere throughout the city. Among the immersed idols, 1,822 household and 660 public Ganesh idols found their way into specially created artificial ponds. Vasai-Virar Municipality had prepared 55 locations with 105 artificial ponds to facilitate the eco-friendly immersions.

Apart from these artificial ponds, arrangements were made for immersions at Vasai Fort and Mharal Beach jetty. The immersion process began in the afternoon, with Municipal Commissioner Anilkumar Pawar overseeing the entire operation, ensuring that all municipal officials, staff, and workers were well-coordinated.

In total, 663 household and 36 public Ganesh idols were immersed in Zone A, which includes Bolinj. Zone B saw 555 idols immersed, Zone C had 473, Zone D had 489, Zone E had 419, Zone F had 282, Zone G had 430, Zone H had 262, and Zone I had 273 idols immersed.

The Municipal Corporation had deployed 2,161 employees for the immersion arrangements, including 818 officials and staff. This comprehensive effort also included 227 fire brigade personnel, 244 medical staff, 42 doctors, and 798 sanitation workers, among others. Ten control rooms were set up to oversee the entire process, equipped with amenities like welcome desks, idol worship arrangements, collection centers, and electricity supply.

The idols immersed in artificial ponds are now being converted into compost, benefiting the environment further. This initiative aligns with the “Eco Ganesh 2023” campaign that received positive responses from Vasai residents.

Over the course of two days, 5 days, and on Anant Chaturdashi itself, the citizens of Vasai-Virar displayed great enthusiasm for eco-friendly Ganesh Visarjan, resulting in a total of 34,477 idols immersed. Among them, 20,896 idols found their way to artificial ponds, making up 60.60% of the total immersions.

This eco-conscious approach to Ganesh Visarjan not only preserves the environment but also showcases the collective commitment of the Vasai-Virar community towards sustainable celebrations. The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation’s efforts have set a commendable example for eco-friendly festivities and responsible citizenship.
