Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation Launches Second Phase of “Special Mission Indradhanush 5.0” to Ensure Child Immunization

Vasai-Virar :- In a bid to safeguard the health of young children and eliminate preventable diseases, the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation, under the Department of Medical Health, is set to embark on the second phase of “Special Mission Indradhanush 5.0.” This crucial immunization campaign, scheduled to run from September 11 to September 16, 2023, aims to vaccinate children aged 0 to 5 years.

The initiative, driven by the Central Government, seeks to leave no child behind when it comes to vaccination. Its overarching goal is to prevent child deaths and illnesses due to the lack of vaccinations while striving to eliminate measles and rubella diseases by December 2023. “Special Mission Indradhanush 5.0” is conducted in all districts and municipal corporations in three rounds, with the campaign initiated in August 2023.

In the first phase of the campaign, which took place from August 7 to August 12, 2023, the Municipal Corporation laid the groundwork for this ambitious vaccination drive. Now, in the second phase, the focus is on reaching children aged 2 to 5 years who may have missed previous vaccinations, including the first and second doses of the Measles Rubella vaccine and booster doses of DPT and Oral Polio vaccines.

A special meeting of the Municipal Medical Health Department was convened on September 8, 2023, to plan the second phase. Honorable Commissioner Mr. Anil Kumar Pawar presided over the meeting, which included key medical officers and staff. Discussions revolved around organizing vaccination camps, utilizing the U-Win app to inform parents about vaccination, and addressing specific challenges.

Commissioner Pawar emphasized the importance of reaching children who have never received a vaccination, those who have refused vaccinations, and underserved areas. He urged all citizens to cooperate with the municipal corporation by ensuring that their children, aged 0 to 5 years, receive the necessary vaccinations. This collective effort will not only keep children healthy but also contribute to the broader goal of eliminating preventable diseases.

The Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation is committed to the well-being of its youngest residents. By actively participating in “Special Mission Indradhanush 5.0,” they are taking a significant step toward a healthier future for their community.
