Mira-Bhainder :- In a remarkable initiative under the “Indian Cleanliness League,” Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) organized a successful Cleanliness League Rally led by the Municipal Commissioner. The event was graced by the presence of renowned actress Dipika Singh as the Brand Ambassador for the “Indian Cleanliness League,” creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Following the guidelines of the Central and State governments, on September 17, 2023, residents of Mira Bhayandar actively participated in the “Indian Cleanliness League” under the aegis of MBMC. The Cleanliness League Rally proved to be a significant success, with active involvement from various sections of society. Leading the charge to make the Cleanliness League Rally a grand success were MBMC Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Mr. Sanjay Shripatraw Katkar (IAS), Additional Commissioner Aniket Manorikar, Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Maruti Gayakwad, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Pawar, Deputy Commissioner Kalpita Pimpale, Chief Engineer Dipak Khambit, and all department heads and account heads of the MBMC.
The rally covered key areas in MBMC’s jurisdiction, including Bhayandar East Railway Station, Mira Road Railway Station, Abhinav College Ground, Kashmir, and Savitribai Phule Maidan in Mira Road. The participation was not limited to the MBMC staff but also extended to students from local schools, colleges, and various social organizations. Additionally, representatives from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Scouts, National Service Scheme (NSS), and other student organizations were actively involved in the initiative.
Despite facing occasional rainfall in the Thane and Palghar districts, the Cleanliness League Rally achieved its goal of promoting a plastic-free and clean city. Citizens and school students were provided with hand gloves for cleaning and bags for collecting waste. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 4000 to 4500 citizens, students, and representatives from social organizations. Alongside the Cleanliness League Rally, other activities such as the Women’s Fancy Cycle Rally, Fort Cleaning Drive, Coastal Cleanup, Bike Rally, Auto-Rickshaw Rally, and a Pet Show were organized under the “Indian Cleanliness League 2.0.”
Following the successful implementation of the cleanliness drive, all the students and citizens gathered at the meditation center, Ramdev Park, Mira Road. The event featured actress Dipika Singh as the Brand Ambassador for the “Indian Cleanliness League,” and she was present to motivate and inspire the participants. Also in attendance were Geeta Bharat Jain, MLA, and former municipal councilors, who lauded the efforts of all those involved.
Despite the rainy weather, the residents of Mira Bhayandar, along with representatives from various schools, colleges, voluntary organizations, and political parties, joined hands in this initiative, demonstrating their commitment to making Mira Bhayandar the cleanest city in India. Municipal Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Shripatraw Katkar (IAS) expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their active participation and emphasized the collective responsibility of keeping the city clean.
