Palghar District :– On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Palghar district is all set to launch the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2023’ initiative from September 15th to October 2nd. This ambitious endeavor, aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission, aims to enhance the health and well-being of rural communities by ensuring visible cleanliness throughout the region.
Chief Executive Officer Bhanudas Palve, during a recent review meeting with Group Development Officers and Extension Officers, called for the effective implementation of this cleanliness campaign across all Gram Panchayats in the district.
The theme for this year’s initiative is ‘Waste Free India,’ with a primary focus on achieving visible cleanliness and promoting the welfare of Safai Mitra (sanitation workers).
In 2023, the importance of cleanliness activities cannot be overstated, and voluntary labor contributions are crucial to its success. The campaign will encompass a comprehensive range of cleanliness efforts, including cleaning bus stands, tourist destinations, heritage sites, riverbanks, ghats, drains, and seashores in rural areas. Additionally, the initiative will focus on raising public awareness about the harmful effects of single-use plastic and organizing cleanliness drives at the school level.
To maximize the impact of the initiative, various activities will be undertaken, such as the segregation of wet and dry waste, income generation through waste management, painting murals in public areas, and providing waste sorting boxes. Chief Executive Officer Bhanudas Palve emphasized that the youth will play a central role in driving these actions forward, fostering a sense of responsibility and pride in cleanliness.
The ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ initiative is scheduled to kick off on September 15th through a video conference featuring the Minister of Jal Shakti and Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Union Minister Sadhnar Online Communication Centre. During this virtual event, the Minister will engage in dialogue with key stakeholders, including the Collector, Chief Executive Officer, Group Development Officer, Sarpanch, and other officials from both urban and rural local self-government bodies.
As Palghar district gears up to embark on this impactful cleanliness journey, it is evident that the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2023’ initiative will bring about positive change and raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness and waste management within the community. Together, the residents of Palghar district are taking a significant step towards a cleaner and healthier future.
