Navi Mumbai :- In a nationwide call to action, India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, has announced the “Cleanliness is Service” campaign, scheduled for Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Citizens from all corners of the country are urged to unite and dedicate one hour of their time to contribute to a cleaner India.
In response to this call, the city of Navi Mumbai is gearing up for a massive cleanliness drive. Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, the municipality has strategically divided its administrative wards into 111 electoral segments, with each ward engaging over 222 locations for comprehensive cleanliness efforts.
Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Mr. Eknath Shinde, has shown strong support for the campaign’s success and is actively involved in coordinating the preparations. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation is enthusiastic about organizing a grand-scale campaign to inspire and motivate its residents to take pride in cleanliness.
The campaign has already gained tremendous momentum, with more than 114,000 citizens assembling at various locations in the city on September 17th at 8:00 AM to take a pledge for cleanliness.
On October 1, 2023, residents of Navi Mumbai will once again come together at 10:00 AM to dedicate one hour to clean various public places, including markets, railway stations, bus depots, beaches, tourist spots, parks, drains, schools, colleges, hospitals, and health centers.
The coordination for each location is in progress, with representatives from local communities, volunteer organizations, women’s groups, school students, teachers, and parents actively participating in the planning process.
Navi Mumbai is now synonymous with cleanliness, and this campaign aims to further strengthen that image. The event will not only enhance the city’s appearance but also foster a sense of responsibility and community spirit among its residents.
In his closing statement, Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, the Municipal Commissioner, invited every citizen to join this noble cause, emphasizing the motto, “Decided, Number One.” He urged everyone to actively participate in the cleanliness campaign to make their neighborhoods cleaner and healthier.
