Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Honors Teachers on Teacher’s Day

Navi Mumbai  :- In a heartwarming celebration of Teacher’s Day, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) paid tribute to the dedicated educators shaping the future of their students. The event, held at the Vishnudas Bhave Theater in Vashi, was a testament to the invaluable contributions of teachers in NMMC schools who have consistently produced exceptional students in various competitive examinations and academic endeavors.

The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Airoli Assembly Member MLA Shri. Ganesh Naik, Belapur Assembly Member MLA Shri. Mandatai Mhatre, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, Additional Commissioner Shri. Vijayakumar Mhasal, and well-known literary figure Prof. Praveen Daven, among others.

MLA Shri. Ganesh Naik commended the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s commitment to education and suggested the creation of a school-wise pattern to further enhance the educational landscape in the region.

Reflecting on his own school experiences, MLA Shri. Mandatai Mhatre emphasized the pivotal role that teachers play in an individual’s development and urged the Municipal Corporation to address teachers’ concerns promptly.

NMMC Commissioner Mr. Rajesh Narvekar highlighted the trust parents place in NMMC schools, with enrollment steadily increasing each year, and a third school under the CBSE board recently opening its doors. He also expressed satisfaction that the Teacher’s Day celebration, postponed for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was being observed with enthusiasm. Mr. Narvekar hinted at forthcoming decisions regarding salary increments for teachers, as suggested by the two MLAs.

Renowned writer and speaker Prof. Praveen Davene delivered an enlightening speech on the theme ‘Lighthouse of Teaching,’ inspiring educators with his words of wisdom.

During the event, teachers and principals from NMMC secondary schools were honored for achieving 100 percent results in the 10th-grade examinations of the academic year 2022 and 2023. Additionally, educators responsible for guiding students to success in fifth and eighth-grade scholarship examinations in 2021, 2022, and 2023 received accolades. Mentor teachers supporting student groups participating in the Young Scientist Exhibition in Chennai, the Agatsya Foundation, Thing Big Science Carnival, and Children’s Scientific Council, as well as District Level Science Council, were also recognized. Furthermore, 328 teachers holding various roles within NMMC schools, including Education Extension Officer, Center Coordinator, Secondary School Coordinator, Technical Assistance Teachers, subject experts, MIS Coordinator, IE Coordinator, Research Teacher, and four teachers with doctoral degrees, were honored for their contributions.

The event was punctuated with cultural performances by students from NMMC School No. 42, Ghansoli Village, who presented Ishastavan and a warm welcome song. Schools that consistently produce high-achieving students received badges, while principals and teachers from these institutions were presented with certificates and books as tokens of appreciation.

In an atmosphere filled with gratitude and respect, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation celebrated the educators who continue to inspire and empower the youth, reaffirming the importance of quality education in the region.
