Navi Mumbai :- Engineer’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters on September 15, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of prominent figures, including Commissioner Shri. Rajesh Narvekar, who expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the engineers for their significant contributions to the development of the country and the progress of Navi Mumbai.
Commissioner Shri. Rajesh Narvekar extended his appreciation to the engineers for their pivotal role in shaping the nation and Navi Mumbai itself. He highlighted the remarkable legacy of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, whose engineering achievements have left an indelible mark on the country. In addition to Sir Visvesvaraya, the Commissioner paid homage to Heroji Indulkar, an engineer from the era of Lord Shiva, renowned for constructing the Raigad Fort.
The Commissioner underscored the importance of engineers in society, emphasizing that they play a vital role in turning theoretical knowledge into tangible realities. He proudly acknowledged that the engineers of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation have significantly contributed to Navi Mumbai’s reputation as a 21st-century city, particularly through projects such as the airport, sea link road, and data center.
As Navi Mumbai faces the challenges posed by sophisticated projects, the Commissioner assured that the engineering department is committed to increasing the capacity of facilities to meet growing demands.
City Engineer Mr. Sanjay Desai, who chaired the event, recounted the journey of engineers since the establishment of the Municipal Corporation in 1992. He emphasized the visionary work carried out by engineers and acknowledged the lasting influence of the first administrator, Shri. M. Rameshkumar.
The program also featured informative lectures, with Dr. Vikrant Bhalerao discussing cutting-edge environmental work and Mr. Vivek Mehtre shedding light on the topic of ‘Chat GPT and Artificial Intelligence – Taarak Ki Marak for Engineers,’ introducing engineers to new technology.
The event included a reading of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s biography by Deputy Engineer Shri. Vivek Mule, while Executive Engineer Shri. Shubhangi Dode expressed gratitude to all participants.
The success of the Engineer’s Day program was attributed to the guidance of City Engineer Shri. Sanjay Desai, Additional City Engineer Shri. Manoj Patil, and Mr. Shirish Aardwad, who led a dedicated team of engineers at various levels.
