Mira-Bhayandar :- The Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation has achieved a significant milestone by organizing a well-coordinated Ganesh Visarjan (immersion) ceremony this year. With meticulous planning and execution, the municipal corporation ensured the smooth immersion of 2127 Lord Ganesha idols across the city on the auspicious occasion of Anant Chaturdashi.
Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), the Municipal Commissioner of Mira-Bhayandar, personally inspected the immersion sites in the city, which included traditional immersion spots and newly constructed artificial immersion ponds. The idols were immersed in natural lakes, the sea, and approved disposal centers, ensuring an eco-friendly visarjan process. A total of 124 Ganesha idols were immersed in artificial ponds, further promoting environmental responsibility.
Under the guidance of Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), the Municipal Commissioner, stringent safety measures were in place at all immersion sites. Additionally, barricading and crowd control measures were efficiently managed by volunteers from various social organizations, educational institutions, and civic agencies.
The Anant Chaturdashi Visarjan event witnessed the immersion of a total of 2063 Ganesha idols. In Prabhag (Ward) 01, 178 idols were immersed in natural lakes and the sea. In Prabhag 02, 218 idols found their way into the water bodies, while Prabhag 03 witnessed 498 immersions. Prabhag 04 saw the immersion of 612 idols in both natural and artificial ponds, and in Prabhag 05, nine idols were immersed in artificial ponds. Prabhag 06, with 612 immersions, made a significant contribution to the eco-friendly visarjan initiative.
During the visarjan process, Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS), along with other dignitaries, paid respects to Lord Ganesha by showering flowers at the immersion sites. The Municipal Commissioner visited Jesal Park, Chaupati, among other immersion spots. Furthermore, former elected representatives, social organizations, and ex-municipal officials also joined in the immersion activities.
Safety remained a top priority throughout the visarjan process, with police deployment, CCTV surveillance, and medical facilities ensuring the well-being of participants and spectators. Adequate drinking water facilities were also provided at all immersion sites.
The success of the Anant Chaturdashi Visarjan event was a result of meticulous planning and the collaborative efforts of municipal officials, volunteers, and citizens. Mr. Sanjay Shripatrav Katkar (IAS) expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to making the visarjan process a grand success and urged citizens to continue practicing responsible environmental conservation during future celebrations.
