Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation Takes Initiatives for Green Ganeshotsav
Vasai-Virar:- In a bid to ensure a sustainable and eco-friendly Ganeshotsav celebration in 2023, the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation recently organized a crucial meeting with representatives from 169 Ganeshotsav Mandals. Held at the Municipal Corporation Headquarters on September 4th, 2023, the gathering was presided over by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anil Kumar Pawar.
The primary objective of the meeting was to provide essential information and guidance to the Ganeshotsav Mandals, emphasizing the importance of an environmentally responsible celebration. Commissioner Anil Kumar Pawar encouraged participants to prioritize eco-friendly practices, with a particular focus on minimizing pollution and inconvenience to devotees.
Key points discussed during the meeting included:
1. Mandap Construction Guidelines:- Detailed instructions were provided on the safe construction of mandaps, ensuring structural stability and safety for all devotees.
2. Procession Precautions:- Participants were educated on the precautions necessary during the arrival and immersion processions to prevent accidents and maintain order.
3. Noise Pollution Control:- Ganeshotsav Mandals were urged to avoid causing noise pollution during their celebrations, respecting the tranquility of the community.
4. Artificial Ponds:- To prevent pollution in natural ponds, the municipality will construct artificial ponds adjacent to traditional ones. Devotees can use these artificial ponds for immersion, with nearby mandaps provided for worship.
5. Crowd Management:- The municipal corporation is collaborating with the police to ensure crowd control and safety during immersion. Fire police and Maharashtra Security Force personnel will be stationed near each artificial pond.
6. Moving Wells Immersion:- Efforts will be made to facilitate immersion through the municipality’s moving wells, reducing the need for citizens to travel long distances for the immersion.
7. Curfew on Programs:- Ganeshotsav mandals have been requested to conclude their programs by 10:00 PM to maintain peace and order in the community.
8. Police Appeal:- The police department appealed to all participants to adhere to the rules and regulations to guarantee a safe and harmonious celebration.
The meeting also addressed concerns and queries raised by the Ganeshotsav Mandals. Key officials present at the gathering included Additional Commissioners Ajinkya Bagade and Ramesh Manale, Deputy Commissioner Nanasaheb Kamthe, Police Officer Deshmukh Saheb, representatives from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation, Public Works Department (PWD), and other Municipal Corporation officials.
