District Council Palghar Officials Spearhead Cleanliness Drive in Sakharwadi Village

Observing Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary, District Launches “Cleanliness is Service” Campaign

Palghar :- In a remarkable initiative led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bhanudas Palve, officials of the Palghar District Council kickstarted a cleanliness drive in the picturesque village of Sakharwadi. This drive aligns with the principles of “Cleanliness is Service,” marking the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary on October 2nd, celebrated as Swachh Bharat Diwas (Clean India Day).

The “Cleanliness is Service 2023” campaign is centered around the theme of “Trash-Free India,” focusing on enhancing the cleanliness and well-being of villages with the dedicated efforts of sanitation workers and the active participation of every community member.

Today, September 21, 2023, witnessed the commencement of the cleanliness campaign in the Sakharwadi Gram Panchayat under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bhanudas Palve. He led by example, actively participating in the cleanup efforts, setting a positive precedent for the entire community.

Present during this event were key figures such as Mr. Yashwant Dharmakanonja, President of the Panchayat Samiti Vikramgad, Mr. Chandrashekhar Jagtap, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Rural), Atul Paraskar, Project Director of the District Water and Sanitation Department, and Hanmant Dodake, Development Officer of the Gram Vikas Department in Vikramgad Panchayat Samiti. Also present were Sarpanch of Sakharwadi Gram Panchayat, Neeta Shailesh Waghere, Upa-Sarpanch Vaishali Mahale, and Gramsevaks Santosh Misal and Dinesh Padvi, among others.

The drive encourages active participation from various community members, including women from self-help groups, youth volunteers, and local residents. It aims to transform Sakharwadi into a model of cleanliness and sustainability, embodying the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for a Swachh Bharat (Clean India).

This exemplary effort in Sakharwadi sets the stage for a cleaner and greener India, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in achieving the goal of a trash-free nation. The “Cleanliness is Service” campaign will continue until October 2, 2023, as Palghar District endeavors to contribute its share to the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural).
