Palghar :- In a significant development, the Zilla Parishad has secured the recruitment of 1600 local teachers in the professional sector, following determined efforts and persistent follow-ups. The recruitment drive comes as a response to the pressing need for educators in the district and is set to address the vacancies that have arisen in the teaching profession.
According to a government letter dated 03/04/2023, the Finance Department has granted permission to fill 80 percent of the existing teacher vacancies. In total, 7108 teacher positions were sanctioned for the district under the Aadhaar-based plan for the year 2022-23. Out of these, 4930 positions are already occupied, leaving 2178 vacancies.
Of the vacant positions, 2065 are in Marathi medium, 73 in Urdu medium, 29 in Gujarat medium, and 11 in Hindi medium. The need for these teachers was recognized after appeals made by certain teachers’ associations, prompting the Zilla Parishad Chairman, Vice-President, and Chief Executive Officer to pursue the matter with higher authorities including the Chief Minister, Education Minister, and Guardian Minister.
In response to the situation, the Education Commissioner at the Commissionerate Pune issued an order (TAIT-2022) directing the Zilla Parishad to fill the vacancies with academically and professionally qualified candidates in accordance with government regulations. Zilla Parishad President Prakash Nikam has ensured that appointment letters will be promptly issued to the selected teachers within a week of receiving the list of qualified candidates.
Prakash Nikam further emphasized that the recruitment process will prioritize schools in remote areas and those with no teachers, followed by schools with only one or a few teachers. This strategic approach aims to address staffing gaps in the most critical areas first. Notably, all the appointed teachers are locals, eliminating the possibility of vacancies arising from district transfers.
This achievement not only signifies the commitment of the Zilla Parishad to providing quality education but also demonstrates the power of persistent advocacy and collaboration with higher authorities. With the imminent appointment of 1600 teachers, the district’s education sector is poised for a positive transformation that will benefit both students and educators alike.
