New Delhi :- Yuzvendra Chahal’s fortunes took another hit as he finds himself slipping down the pecking order, having been left out of India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. The 17-member squad for the tournament was unveiled by BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar on Monday in Delhi. Notably, the announcement introduced a fresh face in the form of Tilak Varma, who is yet to make his mark in ODIs.
In a positive turn of events, the return of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer from their respective injuries added a much-needed boost to the squad. Also making a triumphant comeback is the pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah, who has been absent due to injury for a substantial period. This comeback was witnessed during the ongoing T20I series against Ireland.
The exclusion of Chahal is a clear indication of the intense competition within the Indian cricketing arena, as the team management opts for newer talents like Varma. With Rahul, Iyer, and Bumrah back in action, the squad is poised to regain its strength and present a formidable challenge in the upcoming Asia Cup.
