Palghar :- In a historic milestone, Divyang Welfare Department’s Chairman and Chief Guide, Omprakash alias Bachchu Kadu, announced a pioneering initiative to empower the disabled community. Speaking at the “Disabled Welfare Department Divyangane Dari” Divyang Mela held on August 31, Kadu emphasized the need for strong action to shape a policy that would serve as a national and global model for disability inclusion.
The event, organized by the Zilla Parishad Social Welfare Department and District Administration, witnessed an impressive turnout of disabled individuals from across the district. Chairman Kadu, an MLA of ministerial rank, stressed the importance of self-help groups in the development of the disabled, praising the administration for orchestrating the event on such a grand scale.
During the event, Minister Bachchu Kadu proposed that officers and talathis should conduct workshops for the differently abled and proposed the establishment of a dedicated day for their benefit. He encouraged various government departments to collaborate on the efforts to uplift the disabled community.
The Divyang Mela offered disabled attendees a platform to apply for various schemes, including UDID cards, Aadhaar cards, ration cards, caste certificates, income certificates, and more. Over 33 stalls from different government offices provided information about the assistance available to disabled individuals, ranging from transport passes to hearing aids.
Notably, the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation organized free city buses for disabled attendees, ensuring their convenient access to the event. Praveen Bhavsar, the District Social Welfare Officer, lauded the collective efforts of the Social Welfare and Women Child Welfare Departments in making the event a success.
With the inauguration of the Ministry of Disabilities, India takes a monumental step towards fostering inclusivity and empowerment for differently abled individuals. The event marked the beginning of a new era, one where barriers are dismantled, opportunities are expanded, and the disabled community’s contributions are recognized and celebrated.
