Navi Mumbai :- In a significant development, the state government has given the green light to the permanent appointment of Dr. Rahul B Gethe, a distinguished Medical Officer (Group A) of the Public Health Department, as the Deputy Commissioner on the Establishment of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The appointment follows the Maharashtra Government Urban Development Department’s decision dated August 28, 2023. With this official nod, Dr. Rahul Gethe has assumed his role as the Deputy Commissioner, overseeing the Establishment of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.
Dr. Rahul Gethe, known for his efficiency and dynamic approach, garnered acclaim for his role as a special task officer for Chief Minister Mr. Eknath Shinde. During the trying times of the Covid pandemic, Dr. Gethe’s contributions were noteworthy. Serving as a Deputy Commissioner at Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, he played a pivotal role in implementing preventive measures against Covid. His efforts encompassed the establishment of crucial jumbo Covid care centers, such as India Bulls, and ensuring the availability of oxygen.
Notably, Dr. Gethe extended his leadership beyond Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, overseeing vital oxygen projects across regions like Taloja, Murbad, and Chakan during the Covid crisis under the aegis of the Government of Maharashtra.
His accomplishments go beyond pandemic response. Dr. Rahul Gethe played a vital role in the successful completion of the Surjagad iron ore project in Gadchiroli, operating under the guardianship of Chief Minister Mr. Eknath Shinde. His contributions to the development of Gadchiroli were highly regarded and impactful.
In times of natural calamities, Dr. Gethe has exhibited a commitment to public service. He led immediate relief efforts during floods in Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Chiplun in 2019. Recently, he actively participated in relief work during the Irshalwadi disaster.
