Navi Mumbai : After the arrival of Gauri, the Shriganeshotsav, which was celebrated with different enthusiasm, was held in a devotional atmosphere during the Corona period this year as well. Devotees immersed Ganesha idols along with Gauri in a simple manner, avoiding processions and crowds. It was found that the citizens preferred 135 artificial lakes constructed by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation in all the divisions for immersion. This not only maintained the self-discipline of the Covid period, but also showed an awareness of environmental protection.
A total of 8177 Shriganesha idols and 967 Gauris were immersed in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area. In this, 3682 domestic and 46 public idols, 3278 Sriganesha idols and 352 Gauris were immersed at 22 traditional immersion sites. Also, 4423 domestic and 28 public, 4451 Shriganesha idols and 615 Gauris were immersed at 135 artificial immersion sites.
Among the 22 main immersion sites –
742 households, 3 public shrines and 83 gauris at 5 immersion sites in Belapur division.
1083 domestic idols of Lord Ganesha and 146 Gauris at 2 immersion sites in Nerul division.
289 household idols and 10 gauris at 2 immersion sites in Vashi division,
379 households, 06 public shrines and 33 gauris at 3 immersion sites in Turbhe division,
84 households, 18 public shrines and 3 gauris at 2 immersion sites in Koparkhairane division.
In Ghansoli division, 879 households, 18 public shrines and 56 gauris at 4 immersion sites.
226 households, 1 public shrine and 21 gauris at 3 immersion sites in Airoli division.
Thus, at a total of 21 immersion sites, 4088 domestic and 34 public, a total of 4122 idols of Shri Ganesh and 399 Gauris were immersed in an emotional atmosphere.
Similarly, at the 135 artificial immersion sites that have been mass-produced this year,
In Belapur division – 250 households, 1 public shrine and 39 gauris at 15 artificial immersion sites.
In Nerul division – 354 domestic Shriganeshmurti and 37 Gauri at 27 artificial immersion sites,
In Vashi division – 251 domestic, 4 public shrines and 68 gauris at 16 artificial immersion sites,
In Turbhe division – 290 domestic, 1 public Shriganeshmurti and 30 Gauri at 17 artificial immersion sites,
In Koparkhairane division – 1408 domestic idols and 317 gauris at 14 artificial immersion sites.
In Ghansoli division – 746 domestic, 17 public shrines and 65 gauris at 17 artificial immersion sites,
In Airoli division – 675 domestic, 4 public shrines and 31 gauris at 22 artificial immersion sites.
In Digha Division – 449 domestic, 1 public Shriganeshmurti and 28 Gauri at 7 artificial immersion sites,

A total of 4023 Shriganesha idols and 615 Gauris were immersed in 28 public.
It is noteworthy that without immersing any idol at the main immersion site in Digha division, the devotees immersed Sriganesha idol and Gauri in only 7 artificial lakes. Similarly, in Koparkhairane division, 102 Shriganesha idols and 03 Gauris were immersed at the traditional main immersion sites and 1408 Shriganesha idols and 317 Gauris were immersed at the artificial immersion sites. In other divisions like Digha and Kauparkhairane, the citizens preferred artificial immersion sites.
Considering the large number of idols of Lord Ganesha being immersed with gauris in the Shriganeshotsav, strict care was taken to ensure that devotees would not face any difficulty at 22 main immersion sites as well as 135 artificial immersion sites. Assistant Commissioner of the eight divisional offices under the control of the Deputy Commissioners of both the constituencies. The immersion system was carried out smoothly through the Commissioner as well as officers, staff and fire department and volunteers assigned for the immersion, life guards. Officers and staff of the police department were working diligently in terms of law and order.
Most of the devotees were coming to the immersion sites with lesser number of people chanting Aarti of Shri’s message at home as appealed earlier. Tables were set up at all places by the corporation. An alternative system of generator along with electrical system and first aid medical facilities along with drinking water were also provided. Welcoming the appeal made by the corporation that “wet Nirmalya” like garlands, flowers, Durva, Shami etc. brought along with the idols to the immersion sites as well as “neck Nirmalya” around the neck of the idol, decorative items, plastic “dry Nirmalya” should not be thrown in water under any circumstances. Responded. A separate vehicle has been arranged to transport the Nirmalya and it is being transported by a special vehicle to the Turbhe project site of the Nirmalya Municipal Corporation and it is being processed keeping its sanctity.
