NMMC collected Rupees 2,83,900 fines from citizens for violating rules by not wearing mask, no social distances whereas Crimes filed against 8 shopkeepers.
Navi Mumbai : A lockdown has been declared in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area from midnight on July 3 to prevent the outbreak of corona, citizens are urged to stay at home and break the corona chain. However, as some citizens are found to be out of the house without any urgent work, it is also observed that social health benefits such as not wearing masks, not keeping safe personal distances as long as lockdown rules are not being followed. Therefore, there is a threat to social health and legal action is being taken against such irresponsible citizens on behalf of the Municipal Corporation and the Police Administration.
Eight shopkeepers in Belapur division have been booked under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for non-compliance. Similarly, citizens, shopkeepers and establishments who are obstructing social health such as not wearing masks, not keeping enough distance from each other in public places, spitting in public places from them on 10th July a total of Rs. 1 lakh 49 thousand 200 and on 11th July a total of Rs. 1 lakh 34 thousand 700 has been recovered as a penalty.
An appeal was made to the citizens by the Municipal Commissioner Shri. Annasaheb Misal that “the lockdown is being implemented in the region to break the chain of corona, during which citizens must be staying at home safely, if there is urgent work, only one person in the house should wear a mask and leave the house and return home immediately after work. Adhere to social distance outside the home and wash your hands regularly with soap and water, take care of your own health and the health of your loved ones, and follow lockdown rules to prevent the spread of corona and stay indoors.”
